This wedding was an unforgettable experience for me not only because it was my first time visiting Florida, but also because I met these wonderful people. Brenda & Matthew are the pleasant and relaxed kind of people, full of love. In their company it quickly felt like I’m at home.
The two of them planned their wedding on one of the many beautiful beaches of Fort Lauderdale but unfortunately had no way to plan the weather forecast. Although a few days before the wedding the warm Florida sun was shining, but on the wedding day dark clouds and strong wind suddenly appeared that relentlessly blew everything around and started bending palm trees with ease. Because of that the wedding was moved indoors. Regardless of the unpredictable weather, the lobby which has become the new wedding location was glowing thanks to beautiful flower arrangements while smiles and happy emotions filled the room. Everything was perfect! The wedding reception went by an intimate atmosphere accompanied by the sounds of a guitar, while outside the wind was whooshing and romantically rocking string lights back and forth. Great fun on the dance floor in sync with American and Latin rhythms will definitely be remembered for a long time.
After seeing all those people dancing to Latino music, David and I decided to enter a dance school ourselves! ![]()
Thank you Brenda & Matthew for inviting us to capture your wonderful wedding, for being such pleasant company and for giving us excellent recommendations on what to visit while in South Florida.
Plus there are some of our private photos for you to browse. ![]()

“Andrew and I met on a work lunch and instantly got on well as we both grew up in East Sussex and had a passion for food, I think he also noticed me as I was stealing all his chips!
We got engaged in Sri Lanka on Christmas Day. I could tell Andrew was really nervous but I thought it was because it hadn’t stop raining and was supposed to be bright sunshine, we had an unexpected monsoon in December. After we handed out all our presents he got down on one knee and took me by such surprise! Afterwards we drank lots of champagne (probably too much) and practised our first dance. It was a beautiful day, even with the downpour!
We had a relatively short engagement of nine months which I found more than enough time to plan the whole day. We booked the church quickly and then had to find a venue for a marquee. Luckily Andrew’s father knew the local cricket club who offered the grounds in Chiddingly – so we booked it! Originally I wanted a tepee or yurt but we came across the Arabian Tent company in Firle (who were super local to us) and knew we had found the one! The marquees had different linings, ours was a mixture of ‘Cornish Cream’ and ‘Bombay Boudoir’, which was very cool and all our guests commented on how unique it was. Katherine who owned the company was so accommodating and gave us great advice on where to put the dance floor, we knew the smokers would be quite key in creating a party atmosphere so we wanted them to be near the dance floor (without the obvious smell and fire hazard), we also felt the bar had to be very close so we designed the marquee in an L shape and everything felt cosy but most importantly it had a party atmosphere!
Having worked in events for years, I had an idea of how I wanted to style my own wedding. I then spent hours poring over Pinterest which is fantastic for unique ideas, you definitely don’t need a wedding planner with Pinterest these days! I had a ‘Midsummer night’s dream’ theme in mind which I created with lots of Ivy on each of the tables and various cut glass jars and vases. A friend’s mother went to several markets for me to buy lots of glass (literally for pennies) so we were able to create height with the various pieces. I also collected lots of green bottles which again we used on the tables with flowers inside. I did have a florist (Pat Flowers from Hailsham) who was amazing and very budget conscious but again I don’t think you necessarily need a florist these days as lots of things can be found in your garden! I knew we wanted to incorporate retro photos of our guests, so I used these as place names and spent a long time on Facebook and Instagram finding shots of everyone. A good friend of mine also created Gingerbread favours for each of my guests which was a lovely addition!
I went to a local flower market in Battersea a few days before the wedding to buy lots of succulents, corn and lavender to create different texture and volume on the tables. Another fantastic place for reasonable props was ‘The Range’ in Bristol and Eastbourne, we bought several hanging lanterns and tea holders here in a cut glass style. I also found a reasonably priced arch on Amazon which my florist decorated with the most beautiful flowers! EBay was another great source of props, I found lots of old decanters which we made a feature of on the grazing station, with Limoncello and Amaretto! I also borrowed some old crates from a friend and created a feature outside the tent with pails of flowers and candles. I ordered several large letters for an interactive guest book from ‘The Wooden Letters Company’, it really is amazing how creative you can get!
For our reception we had a selection of canapes, my favourite was the goats cheese truffle honey wrapped in Parma ham on crostini! The caterers were a fan of the slow food movement therefore everything was as locally sourced as it could be. For our mains we had a designate ‘carver’ on each of the tables who wore a chef’s hat and apron, this was a real feature of the meal and got everyone talking. The main was a rib of beef with salsa verde and new potatoes with a tomato salad. Then pudding was a carrot cake with mascarpone icing that came out with a sparkler fountain for a bit of fun! For the booze we did a run to France to collect all the wines and had friends bring back as much duty free Vodka and Rum as possible for the cocktails! I am obsessed with Elderflower so a Vodka Elderflower cocktail seemed fitting as did the Dark and Stormy with Rum!
We wanted our cake to be unique and had been to several other weddings and found that nobody ever really ate the wedding cake so we wanted a grazing station of things that people would demolish in the evening! I had heard of a trend from New York for ‘Pork Pie’ wedding cakes and so we ordered one from ‘The Ginger Pig’ butchers in Clapham, it was three flavours, traditional pork pie flavour and then the top was venison and other wild game the middle was pork, chicken, ham and tarragon. It was delicious and we noticed everyone had tucked into it past midnight! We also had a 5 tiered cheeseboard with various locally sourced cheese from a wonderful supplier ‘ Greys Cheese Direct’ in Berkshire and Andrews mum created the BEST onion chutney to go with it with figs and grapes. Some of my friends had also created a few small cakes and salted caramels which people ate in abundance at the end of the evening.
My dress was a bit of a process, I must have tried on about 25 and put deposits on two before I found ‘the one’. I went to Jenny Packham as a last resort and tried on so many but fell in love with the ‘Bardot’ from the Autumn Winter ’15 collection. It was perfect and I knew it would fit with my bohemian theme. My shoes were very simple from Dune and I had lots of Jenny Packham accessories which I bought in a sample sale near Bond Street. The bridesmaids dresses were easy, I bought a couple from Mango and another two from Asos which they wore with floral headdresses, the flower girls also looked adorable in their little white dresses which I bought online.
In the church a good friend of mine sang Opera ‘Ave Maria’ which was really emotional when we were signing the register. Then for our reception we decided on a steel pan band as I had spent lots of my childhood in Barbados, as everyone made their way from the church to the marquee they could hear the soft drums on the steel pan and it really felt like we were in the Caribbean, It was idyllic with the sun shining! Our first dance was Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Everywhere’ and we had a 10 piece funk/soul band combined with a DJ for the after party. It was great, everyone was on the dance floor busting shapes! I made sure we had a basket of flip flops near the dance floor for all the girls wearing heels so we could really dance the night away! We also arranged a photo taxi booth which arrived later in the evening for all our guests to have a silly photo to take away.
Copious amounts of alcohol always leads to crazy things happening, one of our guests got naked and streaked through the tent which was funny! Another guest got so excited during the speeches that they knocked down about 4 other guests including Andrews mum! Apart from that all the guests had a great time and we thoroughly enjoyed our midsummers night’s dream! The months of planning were so worth it, the pictures speak for themselves, our wedding photographers Ena and David captured all the magical moments!”

We didn’t just randomly chose this magical place for the engagement photo session of George & Ariadni. In addition that the Petra tou Romiou beach states as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Cyprus, the legend says that Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, was born there. George and Ariadni came from Australia to get married on this beautiful Mediterranean island. A few days before the wedding we enjoyed photographing and filming their engagement photo session at the unusual and fascinating locations along the beach.
A big thanks to these wonderful people for their patience, good mood and relaxed atmosphere that day. Also for their will to go down steep paths because they believed in our vision and photos that we had in mind. Thank you again that we had the opportunity to come back to beautiful Cyprus! George & Ariadne, you were wonderful! ![]()
Tuscany, Italy
Florence, Pisa, Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino, San Gimignano, San Miniato, Pienza, Vinci, Lucca
This spring for our first anniversary we decided to discover Tuscany and enjoy its sunshine, green hills, fields of poppy and other colourful field flowers, imposing medieval towns that rise over every bigger hill, but also its food and wine which are like a beautiful melody for your taste buds. Are there any reasons why somebody wouldn’t want to visit Tuscany?
A whole week we were exploring Tuscany and on the last day of our visit we went to see the unavoidable national park Cinque Terre on the Ligurian coast of Italy. We visited Florence, Siena, Lucca, Viareggio, Pisa, San Gimignano, San Miniato, Vinci, Monteriggioni, Arezzo, Montepulciano, Montalcino and some other smaller towns.
The first few days of our stay was rainy and cloudy, but still wonderful. When we got bored of this moody weather we decided to drive south where we were met by beautiful sunshine that highlights all of the spring colours that are found in the landscape. Tuscany is very popular in the spring and summer because of the landscape, colours and scents that you can enjoy in, but I also believe that it has its winter magic because you can spend days touring around picturesque little towns along Tuscany without getting enough of their beauty. In spring and summer these towns can get really crowded, especially Florence which is wonderful but too much commercial and full of tourist for our taste.
Every day we were driving in our car with the windows lowered down enjoying the landscape. The nature there is fascinating, just like it is on the postcards, only the experience is more special if you add real things into the postcard like a light breeze blowing through the tall grass, scents of field flowers, vineyards and the warm rays of sun shining on your skin.
We were particularly fascinated by green hills with a few cypress trees that outlines the vast landscape around Pienza, red poppies that decorate the village roads. We were delighted with Siena, a special city with special energy, a town on top of a hill that stands out in an imposing landscape, marked by impeccable architecture and art. We were stunned by San Gimignano with incredible medieval skyscrapers also charming Montepulciano which rise steeply over the numerous vineyards of the famous Vino Nobile. We were delighted with the food, wine, olive oil and ice cream! We visited the fascinating leaning tower of Pisa as well, for which we had no idea that it was that skewed. Also the circular square in Lucca was an experience which was also used as an amphitheater in the past. Overall the food in Italy is something you can’t leave out of and it is an important part of the culture. In Italy it is quite normal that a shop will lure you with a variety of gourmet treats than clothing. We couldn’t resist ourselves and had to bring with us to Croatia several types of pasta, cheese and red wine from Tuscany. Delicatessen are located on each corner. Almost every agritourism, every village and every town has its own specialties and wine and it didn’t happen that we encountered bad food in any place. Be sure to try the famous Tuscan wines Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Moltalcino. Also don’t miss to order T-bone steak at a restaurant at least once. Whether you are a huge meat lover or not, you will really enjoy it. On a daily basis we enjoyed in perfect Italian ice cream and coffee, but also pasta dishes which were often so simple and with divine taste, completed with aromatic spices.
Tuscany is pure hedonism. You can enjoy in the nature, get lost in the picturesque streets of medieval towns, see some masterpieces of art, experience a piece of history, but also immensely enjoy the perfect food, wine, Italian cappuccino and pastries. In short, to live “dolce vita”. ![]()

This spring I had a pretty chaotic and exciting start, with a lot of travel and distant land weddings, as well as our own wedding at the beginning of May.
I have to confess it continued in the same rhythm and I finally managed to find some time on the road to single out one exciting journey to a wedding on the south of Italy.
Joshua & Ashley came from Los Angeles so they could enjoy beautiful Italy and organise a ‘dream come true’ wedding in a little medieval town of Ostuni, which is often called ‘The white town’, because of houses and buildings painted in white and specific mediterranean architecture. We arrived in Ostuni late in the evening two days before the wedding, and the moment I woke up (I was sleeping in the car all the way from Napoli to Ostuni), I saw white walls and imposing buildings and churches and was surprised and impressed! I recommend you check out more about Ostuni on the internet, because the town itself and its history left me speechless, and I’m sure not many of you heard about this little fairy tale like town on the south of the Italian province of Puglia. Since I can’t keep my excitement for south Italy for myself, I will publish a much detailed post about Italy and the whole travel on other occasion, I dedicate this post to Joshua & Ashley.
As I already mentioned before, their wedding was really special and ‘a dream come true’ wedding, because the sun started to shine on their day, after a week of rain, and the whole atmosphere was more than relaxed and positive. All the guests were placed in a beautiful hotel La Sommita, which was part of the old city core, where, later that evening, a dinner was served in their famous restaurant with a Michelin star. I think you can already assume that the whole atmosphere that the white town gave, plus flawless organisation Weddingsinostuni.com, with premium Italian gastronomy was perfect, so I let you see for your own how it all looked like…
P.S. This is just a part of the photos taken on a digital medium, because we documented the major part of the wedding with B&W / colour 35mm, medium format and largeformat film. One more post will be dedicated to the photos which we captured on film.

I think that all of you will agree with me when I say that I’ve got the best job on the world! Ok, I admit that professional chocolate taster is hard to defeat as the best profession but I’m not far away… ![]()
I’m just kidding and of course every job has ups and downs, but when you love traveling and taking pictures and when it combines into one, I can hardly complain.
So far weddings took me to a wonderful variety of destinations across the globe, I’ve met fascinating cultures and people, gained wonderful friendships and amazing experiences… This time, the lovely destination was Cyprus. It is one beautiful island rich in culture and history, fantastic landscape of endless beaches and above all full of wonderful and friendly people.
We spent a full week on Cyprus exploring all parts of the island, starting from the beautiful sandy beaches, scented forests and waterfalls, to the ruins of ancient cities. If you want to know how it all of that looks, my private photos can be found here. ![]()
Of course, we didn’t only enjoyed swimming in the warm sea and eating vast amounts of fine meze dishes in traditional restaurants… We enjoyed a wonderful wedding also! ![]()
Actually, the point of this entire post is the wedding of Katerina and Jamie that Mihoci David and I photographed in Cyprus! Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony was held in a small traditional chapel in Greek language. I didn’t understand a single word the priest said, but it was wonderful and unusual experience! After the ceremony all of the guests went to the backyard of a luxury villa located on the beach where a traditional Cyprus dinner was served and a dance floor by the pool opened. The whole atmosphere absolutely astonishing: from the table decorations, romantic candles on the sandy beach, acoustic band that played in the sunset, warm breeze and the crazy atmosphere when the DJ took over the floor. I was specially thrilled by the gift all the guests were receiving, small olive tree planted in a pot!
I believe that you will enjoy every moment of this beautiful couple, also in the shots of their perfect wedding…
I would like to thank Katerina and Jamie for their wonderful hospitality, kindness and excellent advice for places to visit on the island! Special thanks to all of their wonderful friends! ![]()

For some reason I just love England and English weddings! I like their fashion, attention to details and the overall aesthetics that you can see on their weddings! London is one of my favourite city, doesn’t matter how many times I visit London, it never gets boring! Samuel Johnson didn’t say without a good reason “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life”.
I simply love the spirit of this city, streets full of people, amazing museums, fashion, interesting people you can meet anywhere you look, diversity… But at the same time there is a typical English tradition, culture and elegance. I could write a whole page just on the subject how I love London but this time we headed east, to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. I was absolutely thrilled by eastern England because you can feel a totally different vibe than the busy and loud streets of London. The lifestyle is more peaceful and calm, and the landscape is full of greenery and beautiful historical houses.
Claire and Russell invited us to Huntingdon this summer to capture their glamorous wedding with a vintage touch. I must admit, we were thrilled to be a part of their lovely wedding story, it really was like in a fairy tale. Claire was getting ready for the big day with her bridesmaids in a wonderful castle with magnificent scenery and rich historical value, Hinchingbrooke House, where the ceremony took place later that day. After that all the guests got onto a traditional English red Double-decker which then headed to The Royal Air Force base Wyton, where a glamorous dinner and dance floor was organised. I still can’t believe that I visited a highly secured air force base, you can’t just walk into such a place, you need to be invited by a highly ranked personnel and get a special pass. It has been an honour to be given this once in a lifetime experience.
Continue to enjoy this unique wedding story through the pictures below and stay tuned for the soon to be released video! ![]()
I would like to thank Claire, Russell, their family and friends, and a special thanks to Claire’s father Bruce for taking such good care of us and being our tour guide the whole stay!
